If I'm reading the vibe correctly, they won't even allow MSX2 next time.

Yeah, I don’t know where this “vibe” was felt, but I personally like the diversity.

If it refers to the one or two comments in the Sales Discontinued thread about not owning the hardware, I would say that if the game would win this year’s MSXDev, imo it would not be because it is an MSX2 title or that it uses MoonSound, but because of the amount of effort put in.

I felt this vibe in the sales discontinued newspost itself, which didn't have the promotional talk all the other newsposts did have. It was the easy way just to talk about the high specs. The newsposter clearly didn't take the time to play the game for even just an hour or so. And then, right in the next msxdev newspost, it reads texts like: 'it doesn't take much to make an interesting MSX game' and even more direct: 'Complexity is overrated'. Im really interested to see how the jury is going to rate this. The person who has to judge gfx has endless beautiful screen8 pictures and animations to judge... And even more poignant, 50% of this game atmosphere and experience is because of its audio. It's all very spheric and game supporting though. Not your typical 'msx tune' which Tadahira Nitta might expect to have to rate. He really will have to play the game in order to judge seriously. And I just have the feeling that the msxdev organizers recognize this and like to have a bit more control over what kind of games will be submitted. Limiting the maximal requirements is a perfect tool to achieve that.

That said, deep respect to both the organizers and the contestants! Now im going to do my $$$ donation to the compo Smile

It is very unfair to say SD has been getting a lot of attention due to its specs... A LucasArts kindof point and click adventure is quite a feat and most people I've heard talking about it is talking exactly about that... If it's a great game and winning it is a whole different history... Cool

DONE!
We're very excited to have all MSXdev22 submitted entries published, it was a rush at the end. 32 new entries in, man! Donations are still coming in too, I can already tell you that we broke a record with that Smile

We're prepping a news post with a summary on this year's delivery. Hang on, be proud, play games, msx forever.

Congratulations to all the participants!

There are a lot more MSX1 games than I expected for this first "open for anything" edition.

Now, let's play!
