I know this very unusual, but someone got the Slot Connector (Interface/Cartridge) from Pioneer ER-101 ?

I want to know if there are some ROM/BIOS inside, or is just a simple PCB connection.

I'm looking for the pinout or diagram of it.

Thanks

Sorry for reviving this thread, but someone found the service manual of this beast. It's linked to from the Pioneer ER-101 Wiki article.

I added some I/O port info from that manual, which is described on page 16. Can someone double check this? Preferably someone who can read Japanese Smile

This connector is describe in the wiki.
https://www.msx.org/wiki/Pioneer_ER-101
The cartridge has only buffers to amplify the signals.

I'm sure you're correct. I tried to translate chapter 4.6 in the service manual A as follows.

Quote:

4.6 VDP (Video Display Processor)

Both the internal VDP and the external VDP on expanded processor (ER101) are accessed from CPU at the same time on any data-write. On the other hand, data bus conflict would occur if CPU received data from both VDP. Therefore CSR terminal of VDP on ER101 is pulled up, due to avoid reading from CPU. That means, data-write is available to both VDP, but data-read is able against only computer internal VDP.

Image output is assumed by external VDP, because internal VDP does not support external synchronization. However, in the case of using image from only computer, both VDP are available. Besides, INT output from only internal VDP is available.

Thanks all!

ghost_jp: what does it say about that bit 4 of I/O port AA? What exactly is it used for?

I wonder the following translation talking about what you mentioned, in chapter 4.7.2 on p.20.

Quote:

4.7.2 Sound control circuit

It does ON or OFF of muting against external stereo sound input.
By writing 7th bit of VCON register and output of 4th bit of MTON register, it generates muting signal for L/R channel(LMUTE, RMUTE).
On muting R channel, L->H operation against LMUTE is required because leading edge of LMUTE is used for latch.

MTON in this sentence is I/O port AAh. About VCON register, refer to table 4-4 on p.19. It shows memory-mapped I/O on 7FFFh.

You can see a working ER-101 with a PAL MSX on this video (at 1:55) + a lot of exotics video game machines. ._,

Wow, how did they (you?) modify it?
Is the alignment between MSX image and LD image OK?

No it's not me, this Palcom setup isn't modified at all.
This is a native setup. The ER-101 has P-BASIC and displays graphics. The MSX is only for game logic and inputs. The video out of this MSX computer is not connected. This is why you can hook a PAL MSX with ER-101. All video signals is generated by the ER-101 not he MSX.
