I have released a new version of recovery menu: RECOVERY V1.14
This version will automatically skip the firmware of some MSX models:
Support for the NMS8220 would be appreciated if possible. Out of curiosity how do you manage to bypass those firmwares?
Note that the firmware skip didn't seem to work on the fs-a1 for "pintz and Amiga".
I tested the new feature on openMSX and it worked fine.
I have tested it on my FS-A1 (black) and it works fine. So not sure by it does not work for "pintz and Amiga"
Note that this feature is enabled only in MFR SD 512KB RAM.
You can see it happening here: https://youtu.be/LIHA4BtupdA
They have the one with 512kB RAM. I somehow can't find the exact point where we discuss it, but you can see it happening several times during this live stream.

Added NMS8220 RECOVERY V1.14b
To bypass the firmware I just take control of the BIOS cartridge search routine, and skip the slot where the firmware is.

I do not know why it does not work for them. Perhaps the ROM is different to the one in openMSX or my FS-A1.
If you manage to reproduce it on openMSX, I could try to investigate it.

@sdsnatcher73 Could you test if it works fine?
Anyone any experience using the MegaRom SCC+ SD in combination with an FPGA MSX ?
I received my SX-1+ Mini MSX from 8Bits4Ever yesterday, but it sometimes won't start the MegaRom...
In some cases it bypassed the MegaRom and starts into basic as if the MegaRom was not even inserted, and sometimes the MSX doesn't even startup at all. It just shows the blue startup screen before the boot logo and just hangs.
Tried swapping it to the other slot, same result. Dipswitches are set to both slots enabled.
And I also found that when it does start, not all my games work (Dix for example).
When I use the MegaRom in my Sony HB-F700P (modified to MSX2+) all games work normally.

AFAIK, it works fine on 1chip MSX.
I've owned the MegaRom SCC+ 2 slot card for a couple of years now and just got a working Panasonic MSX 2+
I added .rom and .dsk to a SD card and everything worked great. I then ran a dsk and then deleted the .dat for that dsk, but now the cart always boots to Basic. It shows Microsoft and then Nextor Basic and almost everything I type shows Syntax Error?
I tried reinstalling the kernel.dat, but same results. How do I get back to the menu?
Thanks in advance.
Holding 0 (zero) key while booting and/or deleteing NEXT_DSK.DAT file on your card, should skip the loaded DSK.
If the computer boots into Nextor BASIC, then probably the ROM Disk have been erased (i.e.: from recovery menu)
In order to reinstall the ROM Disk you can do:
- Download: https://msxcartridgeshop.com/bin/files.zip
- Unpack it and copy the files on the root of your SD card
- Put the card in the cartridge and switch on your computer
- Nextor (operative system) should boot and you will get a "A>" prompt
- Type in the command line:
OPFXSD ROMDISK.DSK /id
and press RETURN
That will reinstall ROM Disk (drive A: )
I have released a new version of recovery menu: RECOVERY V1.14
This version will automatically skip the firmware of some MSX models:
- FS-A1
- FS-A1F
- HB-101
- HB-201
- HB-F1
- HB-F1II
- HB-F5
- HB-F9S
- Hitachi MH-H3
- Mitsubishi F120
- Mitsubishi ML-G1
This means that MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD will boot into Nextor in those models without holding any key to skip the firmware, or having to remove/disable any IC in the computer.
Will it work with the mentioned models, or is it a general fix? I have a Yamaha AX350 II MSX2, and was wondering if it would work on my machine. I have the 1 slot sd card model with no extra ram onboard. So I have to hold a few keys on boot to get to Nextor.
Also, I haven't upgraded my MFR since 2016. Is it worth installing new firmware, roms and Nextor? Because it is working fine, as it is.
From the boot screen it looks like I’m on version 1.2 fw.
And Nextor 2.10
And Multimente 2.07_A
I don’t want to run sofarun.

The "auto skip firmware" feature works only on those models.
I have added the Yamaha AX350 II. I have tested it on openMSX and it boots into Nextor/Multimente without holding any key.
Please, install this RECOVERY v1.14d
OPFXSD RECOVERY.ROM /i34

Probably you do not need to update it.
