GR8NET - third batch

Eugeny Brychkov already has produced two batches of GR8NET cartridges, an ethernet cart for MSX with some very nice features. As the second batch is almost sold out he's working on the third. Eugeny is assembling the new cartridges already, although some components are still missing, he's working on that. You can book a cartridge by contacting Eugeny on info [at] gr8bit [d0t] ru!

The price of cartridge has yet to be determined and will depend of the FX rate when the batch is finished. When you're thinking about ordering a cart it might be smart to team up with other people around you who want one too, shipping multiple items in one package will reduce the price.

GR8NET features:

  • RJ-45 UTP Ethernet connection, 10/100 Mbit auto-negotiation / auto MDI, IPv4
  • TCP, UDP, RAW and HTTP communication protocols
  • Built-in simple web browser to browse web server directory tree
  • DHCP configuration, DNS auto-resolution
  • 2 user programmable sockets
  • MSX-BASIC extended command support
  • Built-in telnet application
  • Built-in HTTP-based bload application
  • Operation as 1 Megabyte mapped RAM
  • ROM mapper emulation (plain, Konami)
  • Built-in SCC for standalone and Konami implementations
    • Hardware accelerated functions:
    • Interrupt generator using time period or frequency, with watchdog
    • PCM buffered 8- and 16-bit mono performance
    • Data prefetch from onboard RAM, ROM and W5100
    • Micro-SD card interface
    • Mathpack for FAT16/FAT32 and 32-bit multiplication and division

One example of GR8NET in action, using its extended MSX-BASIC command set is the recently released ROMBASE utility that connects your MSX to onlime MSX ROM databases.

Lovely Wink
Shame that the GR8BIT cannot be purchased ready built. My manual dexterity cannot manage fine soldering work.

Who said you have to build it yourself ? It's not true. The GR8NET come as plug and play cartridge ...

I think you're confusing the GR8NET with the GR8BIT. Smile

Nice, to see a third batch is being made. You do not have to solder it yourself :-D

Keep up the good work Eugeny!

I was referring to the complete unit, not the cartridge.

If the price including shipping is below € 100,- I really think I should give it a shot Smile

That is a valid question, I'll see if something can be shared about that.

Just heard it will be above € 100,-, plus all the extras to get it to its destination. Pity I drew the line at € 100,-. I'll have to pass...

Shippings amd bank fees raise final amount a lot...
But I bought 4 of them, gaining 40-50 euros ca. of the costs of each cart!
It's better to buy more carts from russia and then ship into the own country.

I need to update my GR8NET to use Nextor, and it looks I need to also update FPGA for that. There were no FPGA flash interface with my GR8NET, so I think I need to order one. Would this USB model work ?

Just ordered my USB Blaster on eBay (found some at 4€ from China, but couldn't wait so long so I ordered one at 10€ from England).
Sebbeug, the explanations on your site are quite useful (the documentation from Eugeny is good and detailed, it's maybe just missing a simplified little guide like yours). Launching MSX games from the Internet is really awesome Smile
