Yet another patch to play The Treasure Of USAS with the extra buttons of the JoySnes.
Good fun !
Thanks for submitting that one as well. I added it to the newspost.
New patch to play King's Valley II with the extra buttons of the JoySnes:
have fun ! B-)
are these patches compatible with the joymega adapter? See for instance:
https://www.msx.org/forum/msx-talk/hardware/joymega-adapter-...
Or do we need different patches for joymega and joysnes?
JoySNES and JoyMega use different protocol. JoySNES is a bit more advanced.
Use Sofarom to apply patches for the joymega adapter. I think JoyMega is mainly dependent on Sofarom to be usable normally on MSX.
JoyMega works fine without patching, patching is only needed when you want to use the extra buttons for menu functions etc.
Do the buttons A and B match well without patch?
Could you do some patches for Nemesis, Nemesis 2, Salamander, Nemesis 3 and Parodius, please? It would be great to be able to play those games and if you need to pause the game or continue, use those keys on the SNES pad
Some answers about JoyMega: the A and B button are working well without patches (behaving like a normal 2 buttons pad). Access to other buttons do indeed require patching. SofaROM is doing that by mapping joypad buttons to the keyboard keys (that can be configured in the SROM.INI file). Same thing could be done for JoySNES (I have a JoySNES here, just need some time to add it to SofaROM!).

Yes it's possible. However, you may have to wait for a version of Srom that supports JoySnes, as Louthrax proposes.

Yes it would be very good. For games that do not require more than two buttons to assign the F1 (PAUSE) button to the START button, and another button on the SELECT button, simply use the FM-TOWN controller compatibility. Simply test RIGHT + LEFT to get the START, and HIGH + LOW to have the SELECT. If one of these two keys is pressed, the four bits of the direction must be reset to zero so as to avoid undesirable movement. So you will keep compatibility with FM-TOWN controllers, without sacrificing the JoySnes autofire with games like Gradius. If possible, add two options with SROM, one for the FM-TOWN controller and the other for using the eight buttons of the JoySnes.
For some games it is necessary to change directly in the program to replace a combinations by an individual button. This is the case of Vampire Killer for this new patch. Now you can use the L and R buttons to launch holy water and X to use the hourglass. The texts have been adapted to be consistent with these new buttons.
Next... B-)
